A MOMENTARY PAUSE FROM PLAYING WITH DOLLS
ONE of the fabulous elements
of being part of a Mail Art Group
Is that I am forced to insert moments of art
during the crazy work week.
I am pretty sure I would wake up each Saturday morning
and realize (with horror)
that the week that had flown by
without much paper and glitter play
if I did not have Mail Art to get out by certain dates.
This discipline of looming mail dates,
drives me to eek out moments
throughout the week and not JUST on the weekend.
These past two weeks I have been working on the latest project.
It is called AMOUR Banner.
The guidelines were:
Marie Antoinette themed
and the color restrictions: Pink & Blue.
Also to be added on each 'flag', one letter of the work AMOUR
I cut the required size 6" wide across the top by 7" long
out of mat board
"OUCH"
which is really the only way to have truly sturdy pieces.
Both sides were covered in papers
and then the front, you can see
totally 'Marie' and fru-fru
right down to the pink marabou feathers
gracing Marie's hair.
The funniest moment was when a co-worker mentioned
the glitter on my cheek this Monday morning
when I had been glitzing-up the chip board
letters prior to heading to the office.
Oh well.
Could be worse!
Now off the five flags go to our hostess
who will then choose from the entire collection
a lovely blend of five flags for each of us and mail them back.
Once they arrive back here at the Nest,
I will adhere my flags to wide silk ribbon
and hang them to enjoy.
And that is what I have been up to since my last post.
Well, that, and finding wonderful bits and bobs on Etsy!!
(that right there is another 'hobby' worth a separate post!"

P.S. the gorgeous piece you are listening to right now
I first heard back in 1986 on the movie: The Mission
with a stellar cast including Robert De Niro,
Jeremy Irons, Liam Neeson, and Aidan Quinn.
The score was arranged by another all time favorite: Ennio Morricone.
the music has stayed in my top favorites
all these years and if you have not seen this haunting film, I
highly suggest it. However, I will warn you it is heart breaking.

Hi dear Rella!
I do believe I saw your flags flying on the turrets of Jelly Bean Castle this morning! Happy that I dropped by and peeked at the beauty and sparkle you create. Sparkle on your cheeks is in fashion!

Elegant banners!
The music from The Mission was lovely, as were your flag banners. What a nice swap it will be.

So pretty! That group is so talented. You did a beautiful job.
My daughter and I are relatively new to blogging and would love to have you stop by. So far, we are having a blast. Kat surprised me with the blog one day. She had it all set up for us. Here is our address:

We really aren't all about jewelry and the name of our blog is Katsui! That's what we had to settle for :-(
