A contest

In my Marie Antoinette Mail Art group

Terri hosted a contest

she designed a pattern for a heart that would close in on itself

and become a wall hanging

We could really do anything we wanted

which is my favorite type of challenge

I used linen as a base

and then added some vintage laces and ribbons

and newer laces

that I tea dyed to give it a more aged look

I took out my vintage mother of peal buttons

a nice piece of vintage rhinestone bling

and some darling ribbon roses that a dear friend sent to me recently

This is how it looks closed up and ready to hang

(click on the photos to really see the detail)

This is the view as you open it up.

I tucked in a favorite feather

to show you that I created a pocket

to maybe hold a love letter or something precious

This is the view of the outside

I did not win, but that was not the driving force

for my creation

I just wanted to sew up something lacy and romantic.

I think it was a success.

and now that I am done loving it

I will put it in my Etsy shop that I have finally reopened.

Dear Rella,
Thank you for your kind words on our blog. Our dog was a peke-a-poo, part pekingese and part poodle. We are so sad without him! He was such an amazing dog. I am not exaggerating to say that for over 19 years he was always in my arms or by my side. I was trying to prepare for the loss of him, but it didn't work!
Thanks for sharing such a magical blog...

Peace and Plenty,
Sheila and Sherrill
